Brazilian mining has unique challenges such as the quality of the tailings to be managed, the lush climate, and the particulars of the ore processed. This collection of papers comprehensively documents the current state-of-the-art, and the future opportunities and promises of tailings from which water is removed to enhance environmental protection and reduce operating costs.
The scope of the seminar, attended by almost 400 delegates, was expanded to include filter pressed, dry stack tailings disposal – this was in recognition of the growing role that filter pressed, dry stack tailings disposal facilities are playing in responsible mine waste management.
This publication contains the proceedings of the 16th International Seminar on Paste and Thickened Tailings held on 17-20 June 2013, in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. It comprises a total of 41 technical papers.
