Since the first symposium held in Luleå in 1983, these symposia on Ground Support in Mining and Construction have been the prime source of literature on this important subject. The proceedings of the Seventh International Symposium on Ground Support in Mining and Underground Construction held in Perth provide a record of developments and thinking on the design and application of ground support methods.
These proceedings offer a very diverse sample of world practices in ground support with contributions from 12 countries. Although a significant proportion of the papers is concerned with underground metal mines, significant sections of the proceedings are dedicated to ground support in coal mining, as well as civil underground workings. It is intended that this will facilitate the cross-fertilisation of ideas and methods.
