Insitu Dynamic Testing Video

Watch as the ACG’s Denisha Sewnun captures what is believed to be among the first footage of its kind in the world — insitu dynamic testing of ground support systems using controlled blasting to generate real mining loading conditions.

High-speed cameras record the loading event, failure mechanisms, and overall system performance in extraordinary detail. This pioneering approach to ground support testing offers the mining industry a powerful new lens through which to understand how support systems behave when it matters most.

The Australian Centre for Geomechanics is seeking industry funding for the fourth phase of the Ground Support Systems Optimisation (GSSO4) research project. This project aims at providing better solutions for mitigating rockburst risks in underground mines by providing practitioners with tools to extend their capabilities to design and implement safe and reliable ground support systems.
