This workshop provides a theoretical and practical framework for understanding and management of moving and unstable slopes. The workshop deals with the actions and approaches appropriate for personnel and managers to resolve these adverse situations in a positive manner. The workshop will provide an overview of geotechnical models, common failure mechanisms, modern monitoring techniques – including surface and subsurface instrumentation, common issues encountered and signatures of different failure mechanism. Guidance on how analysis can assist in evaluating the type and extent of remediation required and a number of case studies will be presented.
